"Dearly beloved...we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life..." Classic line. Indeed, we ARE gathered together to walk through this life we have, believe it or not. If you consider yourself an introvertive, lone wolf-type individual, you could be thinking this is farthest from the truth: " I NEED alone time, I thrive when alone."
We all need time to decompress/unwind/reset/settle/ponder/adjust from the people and situations around us. We also need to fuel our souls and wellbeing with human connection. Connection with human beings that involves space and time. You don't need to be constantly talking and communicating through speech, or even eye contact.
What you do need is the connection with other human beings in the same room as you. Being in the same room with your family and close friends is just as nourishing to your spirit as having a one-on-one conversation with someone you appreciate. It would be crazy to think that only the face-to-face (face to screen to face??) communication with someone can bring you connection. But then again, what is the title of this blog??
If you want to do something for yourself, take 2 minutes (seriously, take two minutes) to sit and reflect on how you genuinely connect with your people. Then after those two minutes, take another two minutes to sit and think about your answer; and if you are happy with it. Let's gather together...with our hearts.
